Love these two.

It will never get old , receiving a magazine in the mail with one of my images published. It is a surreal feeling to see something in print that you created. BUT I have to admit, pinch me was all I could scream when this arrived on Friday.
yes, that is an image from the WAG Doggin’ it Cafe Look like your Dog contest featured in a National Geographic ~ Hungary edition. The clients who have participated in this contest over the years deserve the most credit for being able to capture the brilliance of their animals. Knowing them soo well that they can actually mimic their mannerisms and facial cues. Below is Martin Lepine who actually won a prize for this image in that contest year.
A massive thank you to the staff at WAG , owners Joan and Lyne who have been a massive support over the years, and last but not least to Martin Lepine and all the incredible animal owners, without their undeniable unwavering commitment to their animals, this and many other images would not even be possible.

A great day to wonder into the town of Almonte outside Ottawa to visit the NEW Current Works Gallery featuring artist like Jennifer Kelly and her glass pieces, Photographer Anne-Marie Bouchard AMB photo, Kate Green Cakes and Christina Lovisa of Stittsville’s St Elmos Fire art gallery. SO MANY more incredible artists using all mediums and an incredible space in the old post office in Almonte. FIRST 50 guests also receive a SWAG bag full of goodies, including a 10% gift certificate off a photo session at the barn this summer and a wonderful little hand cream from my vegan certified Arbonne Store. Don’t miss this great opportunity to tour the town of Almonte and be prepared to visit The palms coffee shop and Black Bird, two of my other fav’s in this beautiful little town. Make sure to look for my metal print hanging among the talented artists, as well as three copies available from my toycamera book published with 26 other toycamera artists.
I am super excited to begin a new phase in my photographic processing. Stay tuned to Current Works and here to see what is coming.![]()
Spring edition of OURHOMES Magazine

Featured at Current works is international Artist Christina Lovisa, who happens to also be featured on the COVER and in the latest edition of the OURhomes Ottawa Magazine! We shot Lovisa’s home a few months back and to say that she has talent is not even justice. What an incredible home and every nook and cranny has a touch of Lovisa’s art. It was truly a pleasure to photograph her home. Above is a screengrab from the web of the magazine layout, but check out the PDF version available directly from OURhomes Ottawa.

Back in 2006 , I began a journey of creating a business that revolves around incredible people and the animals they love. It has been an incredible life experience that has enlightened me and my family. This Christmas I was enlightened once again reading a book called SKinny Bitch by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. Hard cold messages that hit home for myself and my husband. I have some wonderful friends in my life that are Vegan and I have always admired their ability to live in a non-vegan world. Things are becoming easier for vegans though, as new restaurants and old established restaurants become well known for their incredible cuisine.
So 2012 is a new journey for our family. I know for sure I will never look at meals the same having read the chapter “You are what you Eat”. On that note: I have a special offer for my clients, friends and newcomers to my blog. For this week, I want to help you make a different choice with a little incentive. Until Friday at 9pm, I am offering a special 2012 Photo session offer with a purchase of Arbonne products. Arbonne is a Vegan Certified line of prestigious products that have taken a stance on animal testing and animal byproducts since their beginning. This Swiss line offers consumers a validated choice for choosing products that have no paw prints attached. Just send me an email at suebird@urbandogphotog.ca for more information.
I’ll sign off on this little quote from the Steve Jobs Novel that was under the tree for Christmas , from an apple commercial “think Different” in 1997,
” The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do. ”
